For the first time in GYC history, instead of Executive Committee members nominating their pick for the Deputy positions, we opened the floor to all members and gave them a chance to express interest in becoming a Deputy. The response was overwhelming, with fifteen members putting themselves forward for five positions. After consideration, we've decided to create an additional three positions, allowing for more of our newer members to get involved!
I'm delighted to share that the nominees are as follows -
Officer to the Chair - Holly Hamill
Officer to the Vice Chair - Beckie Eccles
Deputy Secretary - Jenny Newton
Deputy Finance and Events Officer - Claire-Marie Rozario
Deputy Policy and Public Affairs Officer - Dean Wood
Deputy Campaigns Officer - Kieran O'Shea
Deputy Communications and Outreach Officer (Manifesto) - Emily Harle
Deputy Communications and Outreach Officer (Social Media) - C-Jay Quigley
Each of these nominees were chosen because they are remarkable young people who have a clear future at the forefront of the GYC. I'm particularly ecstatic that six out of eight of the nominees are newer members who joined us after Brussels, and should this amazing team be confirmed by the full council on Wednesday 20th March, they will be the freshest (and biggest!) team of deputies and officers we've ever had.
